There is a lot of talk for removing gender inequality in the business world. But Indian society on a whole continues to be regressive and has not embraced the idea of gender equality in the true sense. The number of women entrepreneurs doing active business here. But is quite low compared to other developed nations like USA and Canada. Even South East Asian nations like Vietnam, China and South Korea have a better rate in terms of number of women entrepreneurs compared to India.

While the statistics may not reveal the full story, there is a definite hidden under current as more and more women are ready to break stereo types and carve their niche in the business world. The government on its part does create a number of schemes but due to lack of awareness and other reasons, the benefits do not actually reach many women entrepreneurs in the true sense. Let us look at the various social, administrative and business challenges being faced by the Indian women seeking to operate an independent business.

Entrepreneurship implies independence of spirit and it is this independence that women in developing countries like India have begun to express over the last two or three decades. But as women steps out taking risks donning the role of entrepreneurs, there are several challenges in her path.
