'Big two' are not unbeatable says Norrie
CAM NORRIE has insisted Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are not unbeatable before the 'big two' bid to extend their Grand Slam domination at the US Open. The Italian and the Spaniard have shared the last seven Major titles since Novak Djokovic claimed the 2023 crown in New York. And the duo have clashed in the final of the last four tournaments they have both entered since Sinner returned from a doping ban. But British No.3 Norrie (above), who lost to Alcaraz in the Wimbledon quarter-finals, said: \"It will be interesting to see. They have played a lot of tennis over the summer. \"They've both done well in the last few tournaments. I think there's a lot of depth in the men's game. \"Definitely on the results, the way they're hitting the ball and the way they're getting through the draw, it looks like they're clear favourites. \"But I wouldn't be so sure that they're going to be meeting in the final. I don't see why they can't be beaten. \"They're definitely ahead but I would not be surprised to see someone beat them.\" Norrie, who turned 30 yesterday, prepared for the US Open playing beach volleyball back at his old stomping ground at the Texas Christian University. He faces a tough first-round match against American Seb Korda, who has a 3-1 winning record against him. But Norrie said: \"It's nice to go and be the underdog for sure.
