The avocado industry has continued its upward trajectory of increasing its market share.

The avocado industry has continued its upward trajectory of increasing its market share. Both local and international consumers have gone from “wanting an avocado to needing an avocado”.

This was according to Sylvia Jones, managing director of Lodestar Marketing Research. Speaking at the recent virtual South African Subtropical Growers’ Association’s (Subtrop) Marketing Symposium, Jones said that health, nutrition and taste were consumers’ main drivers for eating avocados.

“The avocado is seen as a convenient food, a versatile ingredient, and an important factor in staying energised throughout the day.”
