I must admit, despite the darker days and the drop in temperature, autumn is my favourite time of year. I love the rich colours of the leaves and the thought of coming home on a dark evening and curling up in front of the fire. In this issue we’ve got plenty of ideas to help you make your home a cosy retreat for the months ahead.
As the clocks go back at the end of the month and the nights start to draw in, on page 36 we take a look at the latest looks for lighting to give your rooms a cosy glow, while on page 115 we’ve got all the info you need if you’re thinking of investing in a wood-burner to keep your home toasty over winter. Alfresco dining is a distant memory by now, so as you’re likely to be spending more time indoors, why not perk up your kitchen with a splash of colour? On page 52 we’ve got some great ideas to lift the look of your space without breaking the bank. And, if cooking is your thing, do check out our food pages this month (p.100), where you’ll find some delicious recipes for home-made preserves and pickles that make the most of this season’s harvest from the garden and hedgerows.
