This simple summer diet means you can enjoy lots of sizzling treats and still drop a dress size
-

Usually, dieting over the summer can be particularly difficult. While others are enjoying juicy burgers and meaty kebabs, it’s no fun if you feel you have to miss out. This easy-to-follow diet* is the answer. Now, you can embrace al fresco eating and enjoy all the chargrilled thrills, just without the added fat and calories. Plus, there’s minimal prep, so you won’t be sweating over countless ingredients and missing out on all the fun. Tuck in!
WHAT TO DO
1 Choose one calorie-controlled breakfast (approx 250 cals), one lunch (approx 350 cals) and a dinner (approx 500 cals) every day from the lists. Opt for which meal you’d like as your barbecue option and, of course, cook indoors if you prefer!
2 You can have a pot of fat-free fruit yogurt or 300ml skimmed milk a day – and also use the milk for tea and coffee, but don’t have any other calorie-containing drinks. You’ll have 100 calories spare to use each day – see our snack list for suggestions, or choose your own.
HOW IT WORKS
This plan is packed with lean protein, veggies and salad that will help to fill you up.
Barbecuing gets rid of excess fat, while keeping meat tasty, so you don’t need to add fattening sauces.
It’s low in refined sugars and carbs, but includes modest amounts for energy and digestive health.

Not feeling your best? Even if you think you eat well, you might be falling short of all the vitamins and minerals you need. Deficiencies are linked to increased risk of dementia, depression, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and obesity. The good news? 'It can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months for deficiencies to show, but tuning in to your appearance can help you to identify when something is wrong,' says nutritionist Jenna Hope. Here's how to interpret the telltale visual clues...
