When President Rodrigo Roa Duterte announced his decision to appoint Secretary Paulyn Jean B. Rosell-Ubial as health chief, it was met with approval by many of her colleagues at the Department of Health and fellow health advocates. She is believed to be the right person for the job, at the right time. Knowing whereof she speaks, she steadily rose from the ranks from her initial stint as a rural health volunteer some 27 years ago.
In this issue, H&L features Sec. Ubial as she articulates President Rody’s healthcare agenda which aims to translate to better health outcomes so every Filipino can expect to live to a ripe old age, free from the worries of high cost of medical care, and edified by the respect and high-quality service he/she gets every time they avail of medical services from government healthcare facilities.
