Frasco “enjoys” president’s trust amid resignation calls

Amid calls from critics for her resignation, Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco said she continues to “enjoy the trust and confidence” of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., citing clear support from Malacañang.

“I believed the matter has been clearly addressed by the Palace and that has yielded that I continue to enjoy the President’s trust, I am very grateful with that,” Frasco said in an interview following the launch of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) on January 28, 2026.

“I am very grateful to our President as well as to the national government for supporting tourism in the Philippines,” she said.

Frasco also expressed gratitude to her colleagues and tourism stakeholders as the Department of Tourism (DOT) continues to push forward with its programs and initiatives.

“Nagpasalamat sad ko sa atong kaigsoonang Sugbuanon nga padayon gayud nga nagpakita sa ilang kaligdong isip Sugbuanon. Ilang gipakita gayud ang maayo nga gawi sa paghatag og world class hospitality alang sa atong mga bisita sa lain lain nga dapit sa kalibutan. Magtinabangay ta aron molambo ang turismo sa Pilipinas,” Frasco added.

The Cebuana tourism chief further underscored the importance of the ASEAN Tourism Forum, describing it as a vital platform that continues to support both the DOT and local tourism stakeholders.

This year’s forum is expected to gather more than 2,500 delegates from all ASEAN member states, offering opportunities for networking, collaboration, and the promotion of the country’s diverse tourism offerings.
