ASEAN tourism forum yields stronger reg'l cooperation ties

Stronger regional cooperation ties with China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea were forged during the 25th Meeting of ASEAN, which the Philippines hosted and was participated in by tourism ministers, anchored on visions of sustainable growth and resilient tourism.

In her opening remarks, Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco highlighted the economic significance of ASEAN's partnerships with China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea. She noted that decades of travel have connected peoples, supported enterprises, and boosted livelihoods across the region.
"For ASEAN, tourism with China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea supports long-term demand, underpins investment decisions, and gives confidence to communities and businesses that depend on stable travel flows," Frasco said.
She said that the strengthening of travel ties reflects renewed trust and shared responsibility to ensure that tourism growth remains credible, resilient, and aligned with long-term economic interests.
