FPTP means Reform doesn't need majority to win power

In Kent, Reform UK took more than 70% of the council's 81 seats despite receiving only 37% of votes cast

warns us of the potentially perilous consequences flowing from a “tsunami of Reform[UK] votes in the next election” leading to a “Trump-lite government” [in Westminster].

The frightening reality is much worse than he can imagine because the UK’s “Mother of Parliaments” doesn’t require a “tsunami of votes backing Reform UK” for Nigel Farage to claim the keys to Number 10 Downing Street. Our dysfunctional first-past-the-post [FPTP] voting system, used to elect MPs, can easily deliver that ignominious result with only a relatively small shift in public sentiment over the course of the current Labour administration's term of office.
