Centre offering free legal advice to residents marks a first for Cornwall
The Cornishman
|September 25, 2025
WEST Cornwall’s first free legal advice centre, in Penzance, is set to open its doors today.
The West Cornwall Legal Advice Centre (WCLAC) will operate from social charity Trelya’s community hub, the Lescudjack Centre on the Treneere estate, providing free legal advice for everyone who needs it.
The brainchild of barrister John Gallagher, its director, the WCLAC will offer drop-ins every Thursday between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
Its creation has been supported by LawWorks, a charity working in England and Wales which connects volunteer lawyers with people who need legal advice but aren't eligible for legal aid and unable to pay.
