Spades in the ground at rugby club as £4.9m scheme gets under way

Chair of the St Ives Town Deal Board Andrew Baragwanath and St Ives Rugby Club president Ian Deacon formally cut the first turf on the site of the new club house last Monday. Work on demolishing the existing grandstand is set to begin during the next two weeks.

Led by Cornwall Council and funded by the Town Deal, the £4.9 million project has been developed with the club and the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and meets the requirements and standards of Sport England. This phase is due to be completed by autumn next year.
