ANC suspends ex-MP

The ANC in Limpopo has placed former MP Boy Mamabolo on suspension.

The party said Mamabolo, who is accused of bringing the organisation into disrepute, will appear before a disciplinary hearing soon.

The matter has been referred to the party's provincial disciplinary committee and charges will be prepared in due course, according to the ANC.

The decision to suspend Mamabolo, the party said, was taken in line with the ANC constitution.

Mamabolo - dubbed "ngwana wa tshwenya" (an idiom meaning troubled child), by some in his circle - allegedly went on a tirade, hurling insults and speaking ill about party national executive committee member Onicca Moloi, who is former Limpopo MEC for sport, arts and culture.

He allegedly accused Moloi of moral bankruptcy.
