Shivambu party's future 'looks shaky'

There are questions about whether the founder of Afrika Mayibuye Movement, Floyd Shivambu, can galvanise his new party and turn it into it a formidable player in the political landscape.

This is after the party's deputy president, Robert Nwedo, stepped down from his role last week. He said he would speak about his decision at a future media briefing.

His resignation comes hot on the heels of the sacking of Nolubabalo Mcinga, who occupied the position of deputy president before Nwedo.

Mcinga was fired for misconduct after she allegedly met the founder of the uMkhonto weSizwe party, Jacob Zuma.

Mcinga has accused Shivambu of being "paranoid" and entertaining gossip. There have also been resignations in the lower structures of the party.
