NEWLY-APPOINTED Chester captain Declan Weeks admits it's a “privilege” to have been handed the armband for the upcoming campaign.

Captaincy comes at right time for Weeks

The Seals announced last week that the former vice-captain would be stepping up to lead the side, with Connell Rawlinson relinquishing the captaincy upon becoming player-coach.

Weeks has featured more than 200 times for the Seals since joining the club in 2020, with the midfielder currently sitting second in Chester's all-time appearance list.

“It is a privilege for me to be given the opportunity to captain this club,” Weeks told his club's website.

“Personally, I feel this opportunity has come at the right time for me in my career and it is one I'm ready for. I will give it everything and hopefully help us achieve what we all want.”
