Special school 'a transformative project' for city

A CONTRACTOR has been appointed to design a new build special school for Swansea.

Morgan Sindall, along with Swansea Council, will work with governors, staff, pupils, parents/carers and other interested parties to ensure the brand new build meets the pupils' needs.

The project will significantly improve facilities and expand provision for young people in Swansea with additional learning needs.

The company will also secure planning and prepare the site off Mynydd Garnllwyd Road ahead of construction.

The new state-of-the-art school will replace Ysgol Crug Glas and Ysgol Pen-y-Bryn with bigger and better facilities and is part-funded by the Welsh Government.

From September 2025, these schools will come together under a single governing body and headteacher, and will be known as Ysgol Calon Lân. Both existing sites will remain open, with no disruption to pupils, until the new school building is completed.
