'It was extremely fast. We just heard the pop, pop of people knocked down. It was so horrendous'

SEVERAL people were injured as a fast-moving car ploughed into crowds of Liverpool fans celebrating at the club’s Premier League victory parade last night, scattering victims across the street.
Supporters were flung high into the air and others were reportedly run over when a dark-coloured people carrier mounted the packed pavement in the city’s Water Streeet.
Harry Rashid, who was just 10ft away, said: “It was extremely fast. Initially, we just heard the pop, pop, pop of people just being knocked off the bonnet.
“My daughter started screaming and there were people on the ground. I saw people lying on the ground, people unconscious. It was horrendous. So horrendous.”
Dozens of angry fans finally forced the car to stop, breaking its windows and some witnesses said they heard shouts of “kill him”.
Police raced to the scene of devastation and arrested a man in the car — he was later described by them as a white 53-year-old from the city.
Counter-terror officers were last night helping with a probe into the tragedy.
Bloodied victims were seen being helped away while dozens of paramedics treated others at the scene and the air ambulance service was called in.
The horror erupted just 10 minutes after the team bus packed with Anfield’s victorious stars had driven past Water Street opposite the city's iconic Liver Building. Witnesses recalled how they were forced to leap out of the way as the Ford Galaxy careered along the road, hitting dozens of fans.
Craig Steward, 52, said: “It was awful. The driver just ploughed through the crowd in a state of panic because people were trying to get him out of the car.
“The whole thing lasted 20 seconds and people did not know what was going on.
