State of roads in focus at cycling protest meeting

A PROTEST meeting will be held this week over the state of Macclesfield's roads, with organisers branding the condition of carriageways a disgrace.

The Make Macclesfield Safe for Cyclists protest will be held at Whalley Hayes Car Park, Macclesfield, on Saturday, June 7, from 11am.
Campaigners want potholes fixed, a network of protected cycle lanes created with improvements to the Macc section of the National Cycle Route and the introduction of 20mph speed limits in residential areas.
As part of the protest there will be a group cycle from the car park and through South Park to Waters Green.
Bikes will then be pushed up Mill Street to the town hall where there will be remarks by Green party campaigners John Knight and Rachael Marlow.
