Macc soul searching after Bramhall defeat
Macclesfield Express
|May 14, 2025
FOR Week 4 of the season Macclesfield 1st XI welcomed Bramhall to Victoria Road, the visitors sitting one point behind the hosts in the league table
Macc captain Jack Massey won the toss and elected to bat.
Against tight bowling the batsmen struggled and wickets soon started to fall.
Massey was first to go with the score on 3, stumped by Greg Dixon off the ever-reliable Simon Wilkinson.
‘This was quickly followed by the dismissal of fellow opener Jimmy Longhorn who was very well caught and bowled by Anson.
At 19-2 Macclesfield were struggling and it got worse when Joe Moores, making his first appearance of the season, was caught in two minds and was caught by the wicket keeper for 0.
The home team were now 24-3 in the 12th over.
Much now rested on the shoulders of Andrew Poppa and Alex Thomson.
The pair, playing sensibly had put on 14 for the 4th wicket when Thomson, with the score on 38, was bowled by Lachlan Anson, for just 7.
Matters get worse when next ball John Birchall was caught behind.
Poppa and Khalid Sawas now had a real fight on their hands.
