£1.4m boost to help college hit net zero goals

BURTON and South Derbyshire College (BSDC) has been given a £1.4 million boost to help it hit net zero.

The college has received a grant of £1,408,211 from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.

The three-year project will see BSDC replace all gas-fired heating systems, fluorescent lighting, ventilation/cooling plants, insulation and single-glazed windows.

It will also be used for fabric upgrades and the installation of a centralised Hybrid Air Source Heat Pump system.

By implementing these improvements, college leaders expect to reduce carbon emissions by more than 42 per cent, making a significant impact on its environmental objectives.
