1 ADD VEGGIES 'Try grilling fresh vegetables to add nutrients and flavour to your plate,' says nutritionist Lily Keeling*. Veggie kebabs are great. 'Or, keep things simple with vibrant veggie sides, such as corn on the cob or a colourful rainbow slaw.'
2 MAKE MARINADES They will contain less salt than shop-bought versions, and can add flavour and tenderness to leaner cuts of meat. Try making your own lighter salad dressings too.
3 GO EASY ON THE GRILL 'Avoid excessively charring your food,' says Lily. 'It can create harmful chemicals that you don't want to ingest.' Turn meat frequently to stop it becoming overdone.
