You can easily leave pots with a neighbour to water when you're away. Tomatoes are excellent sources of vitamin C and lycopene, a potent antioxidant, good for cardiovascular health.

Freshly picked foods are more nutritious than produce that's been ripened in storage or been left on a shelf for a while. That's why you can't beat home grown produce for optimal nutrition - but there are other benefits, too. Growing your own food is great for the environment and provides a real emotional connection with the land. Growing food can boost your mental health and induce feelings of well-being. Even if you don't have a garden, you can grow salad items in pots, or grow herbs on your window sill.
