Brian Robinson opens this week’s issue writing about his experience at his first ever six-day event. News of the contract to ride the New York Six was delivered by his manager during a race meet at the famous Parc des Princes track in Paris, referring to it as the best contract he could ever get. “Combien?” Robinson and Shay Elliott had immediately replied. “Oh don’t bother about the money,” came the reply, “it’s in the States!”
