Askou sets his sights on hitting top six

|July 02, 2025
Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou has set his sights on the top six this season but says they will try to break into the Premiership elite in a sustainable manner.
The Dane has assessed the club's performances in recent years and noted that there have been fine margins to Well missing out in four of the last five years.
So he feels if he can make the right tweaks in pre-season, he can help close the gap and edge the Steelmen into the top half of the top flight come May next year.
He said: "One of the big challenges is that there are still a lot of things to do before we can say what this squad and this club is capable of this season.
"But what I will say is, I've also looked at the club's history over recent years. If you take the last five years, we've been in the top six once. We've been 3.4 points off on average in reaching the top six.
