Vietnam and Finland are amplifying their bilateral ties in many sectors. Jarno Syrjala, Under Secretary of State for International Trade, talked with VIR’ Thanh Tung about the cooperation prospects, especially in innovation, green technology, and digitalisation.

Finland sets intention to deepen strategic partnership

You paid a visit to Vietnam in late May. What was the outcome?

During the visit, we held meetings with several ministries and agencies. One of the key achievements is that Finnish companies accompanying our delegation were able to connect directly with Vietnamese partners. These business-to-business interactions are extremely important because companies bring concrete substance to bilateral relations. Political dialogue and diplomatic engagement are important, of course, but practical cooperation between enterprises is what truly creates long-term value.

Vietnam and Finland already share a long-standing and trusted relationship built on mutual respect and openness. That spirit was clearly reflected in our discussions here in Hanoi. We were able to exchange views frankly and openly on a wide range of issues, and I believe this level of trust is an important foundation for future cooperation.
