Confidence boost for Valiants as they see off United’s young guns

DARREN Moore was pleased with the way his Port Vale team beat Leeds United Under-21s in the Vertu Trophy and reckoned, “it was the right response from Saturday to get a win.”

After seeing an alternative XI lose to Reading in League One last weekend, Vale needed a pick-me-up and Moore was pleased with the night’s works against Leeds’ largely teenage squad as the Valiants ran out 4-1 winners.
Building up for the League One clash with Leyton Orient on Saturday, Moore said this performance and result will help.
“Absolutely, it will have helped scoring on Vale Park and scoring four goals,’ he told Port Vale TV.
“The opposition wasn’t a walkover by any means. We had to work hard for it and the boys did that.
“The attitude was spot on so to score is definitely going to benefit us and it was the right response from Saturday to get a win.”
He added: “It was a really pleasing night’s work for the team against a really purposeful, spirited, Leeds United Under-21 team.
I thought they {Leeds} played really well.
