PILGRIMS CAPTAIN DETERMINED TO MAKE 2026 A HAPPIER YEAR
JOE Edwards has described the struggles of Plymouth Argyle during 2025 as 'probably the hardest period' of his six years at Home Park.
The club captain admitted he was 'hurting' over the Pilgrims' relegation from the Championship last season and then, even more so, over the very challenging time they have had in League One this term.
However, Argyle have had back-to-back 1-0 victories away to Wycombe Wanderers and against Rotherham United at Home Park in their last two matches and Edwards is hoping 2026 will be 'a lot more positive for us'.
The 35-year-old recently made his 250th appearance for Argyle after joining them from Walsall in 2019 as Ryan Lowe's first signing of his time as manager.
Edwards said about 2025 for the Pilgrims: "I would say probably the hardest period I have had whilst I have been at Argyle. Getting relegated was the first real negative since I have been here.
"I know the year we came up (to League One) we finished not too far above the relegation zone. Obviously, Covid was tough with no fans, so we have had struggles along the way but it has been a general rise really in terms of since I have been here.
