Agreement reached over fast-growing conifer trees

Aset of tall conifer trees ina doctor’s surgery car park that triggered complaints from neighbours are to be cut down.

The leylandii looming over homes led to a formal complaint being lodged with Redcar and Cleveland Council's planning department.

Residents Mick Doe and Julie Swales, of Copeland Close, Skelton, claimed the conifers blocked sunlight into their home. The rear of their property backs on to a car park belonging to Hillside Practice, a busy medical centre on Windermere Drive.

It is understood the trees were planted as part of planning permission for the surgery when it opened in 2008 in order to screen the development from nearby homes.
