Tuburan nominated for DSWD award

Tuburan, Cebu, has been nominated as best local government unit for the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region-7 (DSWD-7) Gawad Sulong Award under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

The recognition highlights the town’s strong support for livelihood initiatives and its collaborative approach to empowering communities.

Launched in 2024, Gawad Sulong is now an annual awards and recognition event that honors outstanding SLP partners, stakeholders, and participants. It celebrates the program’s accomplishments and recognizes individuals and groups that embody resilience, innovation, and commitment in advancing sustainable livelihoods.

For 2025, aside from Tuburan Town, the other five nominees from Central Visayas were shortlisted across various categories, including five from Cebu. They are:

Best Micro-Enterprise Development Association (special projects) — Camarin Consumers Cooperative, Bonbon, Aloguinsan, Cebu

Best Administrative Staff – Marwin B. Diaz, SLP RPMO

Best Micro-Enterprise Development — Individual — Rochel Anino Datoy, Tagbilaran City, Bohol
