The version of the dance that Fr. Borre refers to is the one that was mastered by Estelita “Titang” Diola of the Turang Dance Troupe.

Titang Diola passed on in 2013, but through the efforts of her relatives, the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. and Casa Gorordo Museum, the traditional steps of this version continues to be performed.
The Sinulog Festival Version - “The last form is the sinulog free version as they call it, a rendition by any cultural group or dance troupe in honor of the Santo Niño,” Fr. Borre writes about this version the version which most are familiar with today.
In 1980, David Odilao Jr, who was then the Regional Director of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, organized the first Sinulog parade.
