Mandaue gov't center construction resumes

After three months since it was halted, the construction of the P2.5-billion Mandaue City Government Center in Barangay Tipolo has resumed after the project contractor complied with the remaining engineering requirements set by the city government, Mayor Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano said.

Ouano confirmed that WT Construction Inc., the contractor behind the project, has been allowed to resume work on the 10-storey government center after securing clearance from the City Engineering Office, particularly the submission of the required pouring certificate for the building's foundation.

The mayor said the contractor formally informed the city last week of its intent to resume construction, explaining that work had temporarily slowed due to the vacation of some of its workers.

He noted that the city withheld approval to resume until all safety-related documents were completed.

City officials earlier flagged the absence of the pouring certificate, a key requirement that ensures the strength and integrity of a structure's foundation.
