After another underwhelming weekend in European rugby, South African fans are questioning why their teams should continue playing in Europe, given the apparent mismatch in quality.
Three of the five South African teams failed this weekend. Only the Stormers' unexpected 40-point blank out of Sale Sharks and the Cheetahs' narrow 22-18 victory over Zebre provided any positives in an otherwise dismal weekend.
Many hoped the Sharks, South Africa's most-star-studded team, would perform well against Toulouse in Durban. However, in an error-filled game, the Sharks were nowhere near Toulouse's level, going down 20-8.
