REFRESHING: KEEPING THE FAITH WHEN RELIGION MEETS LOVE
Based on a true story, Nobody Wants This arrives like a breath of fresh air in a landscape packed with recycled romance tropes.
The Netflix series feels instantly familiar, yet remarkably original, combining modern dating chaos with sharp humour and a surprisingly thoughtful look at interfaith relationships.
What sets the show apart is not only its easy charm but also its honesty, its emotionally real characters and its ability to find comedy in moments that feel stolen straight from everyday life.
From the opening episode, the chemistry between the leads is undeniable. Joanne, played with effortless wit by Kristen Bell, is a spirited, opinionated and slightly jaded podcaster who has made a career out of analysing the messiness of relationships.
Noah, portrayed by Adam Brody, is a gentle and sincere rabbi who is navigating the emotional fall out of a breakup while trying to reconnect with his sense of self and purpose. Their first encounter is awkward and unexpected, the kind of moment that could only happen when two worlds that are never meant to collide suddenly crash into each other.
