Funeral plans for 'devoted' dad, 55

LOVED ones of alleged attack victim Simon Beston are preparing to say their last goodbyes.

The 55-year-old died in hospital three weeks after he was allegedly assaulted in Newcastle city centre on Ladies Day.

Five people have since been arrested as part of the investigation into Simon’s death. As the probe continues, a funeral has been planned for the loving dad and grandad. Simon will be laid to rest at Sunderland Crematorium at 10am on Friday, September 12.

In his death notice he is described as a “devoted son”, “much-loved dad”, “treasured grandad”, “dear brother” and “loving partner”.

The notice says: “Simon will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all his family and friends. In celebration of Simon’s fun and colourful spirit, the family kindly request that those attending wear a ‘splash of lilac or pink, his favourite colours.”
