Global athletics gets high-tech boost, Tata Communications signs 5-year deal

Tata Communications has secured a significant five year deal to provide global host broadcasting services for the World Athletics Series, including the prestigious World Championships scheduled to be held in Tokyo in 2025.

This strategic partnership aims to bolster the reach and engagement of athletics worldwide, aligning with World Athletics’ mission to promote the sport through innovative and impactful initiatives, particularly in India.
Starting in 2025, Tata Communications will serve as a pivotal partner for World Athletics, bringing state-of-the-art broadcasting services to various key events throughout the year. These events include the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing in March, the World Athletics Relays in Guangzhou in May, and the World Athletics Road Running Championships in San Diego in September, culminating with the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo from September 13-21. The Tokyo event is especially notable, as it typically garners a global viewing audience of around one billion people.
Through this collaboration, Tata Communications will enhance World Athletics’ ability to captivate a global audience, delivering immersive and high-quality live content to broadcasters across the world. By leveraging its advanced media platform, Tata Communications will ensure reliable, end-to-end support that meets the rigorous demands of these highprofile international events. The company will play a crucial role in creating localized regional feeds, thereby enhancing the viewing experience and fostering a connected fan base worldwide.
