School hosts festival of '40s
Sleaford Target
|July 09, 2025
A SPARKING festival in the grounds of a local school at the end of June gave one of Sleaford's favourite photographers a final chance to showcase his talent.
-
Sleaford Town Council's 1940s Day was held at the William Alvey Church of England primary school on Eastgate on Saturday June 28.
The photographer Rod Carlyle, whose photos of the event are shown here passed away three days later.
The Town Council has been working with the school for the last few years to bring the event to the school's large playing field for the enjoyment of Sleafordians and visitors.
Since working with the Alvey School the free event has grown in size to rival the Town Council's Christmas Market, with thousands of people coming to Sleaford to enjoy the free entertainment, stalls, and catering.
