THE Scottish fishing industry isn't just a critical part of the economy - to a much greater extent than in England - but central to coastal communities and an irreplaceable part of our heritage.

As it happens, it's also increasingly prosperous. Since leaving the EU and the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), we've seen catches and landings increase. Scotland has also had a far stronger voice in negotiations with our neighbours.

Yet the EU still takes seven times more fish (by value) from our waters than we take from theirs.
