The strike, involving nearly 9,000 workers from District Council 33, began on July 1. It includes those responsible for essential city services like trash pickup, 911 dispatch, and the operation of libraries and pools. Because of the work stoppage, curbside trash collection was paused, and residents were directed to use one of 63 temporary drop-off locations, each limited to eight bagged items per household.
