Black Clergy of Philadelphia & Vicinity celebrate the memory of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and to swear-in it's new President

PHILADELPHIA, PA---Black Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity will hold its annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration and host an Investiture Service for the incoming President of the organization, Bishop J. Louis Felton and his Cabinet on Sunday, January 14, 2024, starting at 4:00 p.m. This two-part celebration will take place at Mount Airy Church of God In Christ at 6401 Ogontz Avenue in Philadelphia.

Bishop Felton served as the first Vice President of the Black Clergy organization until the end of December 2023.

The Black Clergy of Philadelphia and Vicinity has been in existence since 1980 and was originally formed because the Philadelphia Public School teachers had gone on strike. Over the years since its founding, the organization has tackled a myriad of issues, from racial profiling to voter registration and education, school reform, violence, and public safety and health issues, including HIV/AIDS and in more recent years, the Coronavirus.
