M&S Rochdale has won the ‘Best Store Award’ at Rochdale Riverside - a recognition driven entirely by customers and a celebration of the team’s ‘exceptional service, quality products, and commitment to the local community.

Marks staff prove to be bright sparks of Riverside

With more than 500 votes cast by local shoppers, M&S Rochdale stood out from 24 stores across the centre - and was crowned overall winner for consistently going above and beyond to deliver a brilliant shopping experience.

The award is a reflection of the dedication and energy of the 89 strong team, who work hard every day to bring the magic of M&S to life.

Store manager Ashley Sowter, who joined in September 2024, has been instrumental in leading that charge - focusing on high standards, exceptional customer service, and making the store a place colleagues love to work, and customers love to shop.

M&S has served the Rochdale community for more than 40 years, and the current store at Rochdale Riverside plays a vital role in the local community.

The store works closely with charities such as Springhill Hospice, supporting patients with cancer, and has raised money for Young Minds, a leading mental health charity.

Through M&S's partnership with Neighbourly, the store has also donated nearly 160,000 surplus meals, supporting more than 1,000 people in need.
