APPLICATIONS are open for a key role scrutinising the work of the police and crime commissioner (PCC).

The Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Police and Crime Panel can that oversees the work of PCC Rupert Matthews appoint two independent members.

Chairman Councillor Les Phillimore said: “The panel has a key role.

“Independent members bring an outside voice that give such valuable input alongside our cross-party panel of councillors.
