Protest over sponsor planned for Congress

THE group Gaels Against Genocide will picket today's GAA Special Congress at Croke Park.

They had previously called on GAA chiefs to convene an 'extraordinary congress' to decide the future of key sponsor Allianz Ireland and had hoped the issue would be on the agenda this weekend.

But with the Football Review Committee (FRC) rules dominating the clar, Allianz’s future isn't on the official agenda for the day.

Association bosses referred Allianz Ireland's sponsorship of their National Leagues and Football Championship to their 'Ethics and Integrity Commission' almost a month ago, but there have been no updates since.

Gaels Against Genocide wrote to the GAA two weeks ago, but have not received a response.
