Ballymac is Set' to deliver again in Cork classic
Irish Daily Star
|October 18, 2025
HAVING gone fastest in the opening round of the 2025 Bar One Racing Irish Greyhound Laurels, brilliant pup Ballymac Setanta will ignite the classic action from the opening heat at Curraheen Park tonight.
Forty-eight remain in the perennial Cork feature and within a strong challenge from the kennels of Liam Dowling while in search of a first Laurels title, Ballymac Setanta set a sizzling standard last weekend.
Striking the front off the second bend, the Kerry raider posted 27.94 for the 525-yards in visually stunning manner.
Setanta faces a tricky assignment in terms of securing a clear run tonight as he is drawn in trap four within a field of inside seeded runners.
With a sharp Gortkelly John to his immediate outer and pacy Cheque For Cash likely to command the rails from trap two, the Dowling starlet will roll the dice for clear passage at the corner but gets the vote.
Staying with the Dowling team and, while Ballymac Setanta has hardened to 8/1 in the outright market, first round defeat was not enough to shift companion Solo And Go from a share of favouritism.
