A young businessman says he has been blown away by the response after opening a New York style pizza restaurant in Seaton Carew.

Will Dexter, 25, has opened No.5 New York Pizza, on The Front, in Seaton Carew, Hartlepool, after taking on the lease from The Marine Hotel owners - and his parents - Lee and Claire Dexter.

No.5 New York Pizza is next door to the hotel but initially formed part of the grade II listed building.

Plans to separate the hotel's former restaurant from its accommodation to run as an independent business were approved last year after proposals were submitted to Hartlepool Borough Council planning department earlier in the year.
