Dozens of new homes approved for village site despite objections

Plans to build 43 new homes in Elwick as part of an "attractive and sustainable extension" to the village have been approved by councillors despite dozens of objections.

The scheme relates to a new development on land at North Farm, located off The Green.

An application by Lovell Homes to deliver a mix of one, two, three and four bedroom terraced, semidetached and detached properties and bungalows has been passed by Hartlepool Borough Council.

In total 41 objections were submitted to the local authority from residents raising numerous concerns around overdevelopment, loss of green space and agricultural land and impact on community wellbeing.
