Work starts on converting offices to flats

Derby Telegraph

July 29, 2025

WORK has begun to convert a Derby city centre building into more than a dozen new homes at a busy nightlife spot.

Scaffolding is in place at the former Connexions building on Curzon Street, which is within the Friar Gate conservation area.

The plan is to turn the former offices into 14 apartments. It is situated just yards away from the former Lord Nelson pub which recently turned into a burger restaurant. But a noise condition has been placed on the plans following concerns that people living inside would be distracted by “high levels of street noise”.

Planning permission was requested in October 2023 by developer Una Properties.
