Familiar family behind plan to open wine bar

A meeting was held on Wednesday at Derby City Council over a licensing application submitted by Brooks Winery Mickleover Ltd to take over part of the former Finewood Studios building in Station Road, Mickleover.

The management behind the new venue are the Morgan family who ran The Deli by Morgan's stall in the Eagle Market before opening the Brooks Deli and Wine bar in Ockbrook a few years ago.

They now want to expand further by opening a similar venue in the heart of Mickleover.

The plans include taking on the ground floor of the former Finewood Studios store, which closed in 2023 after 47 years of trading, to run as a shop and bar with a seating area outside too.

The premises application submitted to the city council called for permission to open between 8am and midnight, Sunday to Thursday, and 8am to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays. It also wanted to sell alcohol and be allowed to play live music indoors.

A licensing meeting was held because the application received an objection from a nearby resident.
