Despite knowing that it could attract some abuse from beer lovers, a young man growing up watching Top Gear every Sunday couldn't resist a pint of Jezza's own, which came to £5.80, absolutely on the steep side, but in a fairly fancy place like this, I wasn't surprised.

I'd had it once from a bottle and once at a pub, and actually wasn't a huge fan on either occasion. But I don't know if it was the comfort of a post-work pint, or the allure of the charming building, but it was excellent on this occasion.

It wasn’t as hoppy as the last one I had and just seemed like a normal lager, which, despite having a role writing about pubs in an ale-mad city, was no problem for me - I'm not ashamed to stray away from an ale, although I am ashamed to not support a local brewer on this occasion.
