Charity receives £375k boost days before opening children's camp at former historic school

A MUCH-loved former Derbyshire school, which is being converted into a free-of-charge camp for children and young people with serious health conditions and their families by the Over The Wall Camp charity, has received a £375,000 boost.
The Over The Wall Camp charity's new forever home will be in Ockbrook School from next year.
The funding from the Julia Rausing Trust is helping with the transformation of the former 200-year-old independent school building, set up originally by the Moravians.
Additionally, the charity is opening its doors this Wednesday, for people to explore the former Ockbrook School and hear about the exciting plans for the future.
The site will be the first of its kind in the UK with first-class clinical facilities and exciting recreational spaces including a “Welcome Garden”, amphitheatre and adventure park.
In 2024, Over The Wall Camp secured a 40-year lease for the former school, which closed in June 2021.
