FREDDIE STEWARD has revealed details of a pep talk that turned England from a team who could not get over the line into serial winners.

The fullback was part of an England squad inherited by Steve Borthwick in 2023 who were in disarray but have now strung together 11 victories in a row.

They did make a World Cup semifinal in Borthwick's first year but then had a succession of frustrating near-misses.

In 2024 they lost five games by seven points or fewer and carried that on into last year’s Six Nations with a 27-22 loss to Ireland in Dublin before something clicked.
