Sweet last 16 as Arteta's Quad chasers get lucky

- by JEREMY CROSS

MIKEL ARTETA insists Arsenal deserve to be red-hot favourites to win the Champions League after they came out on the right side of the last-16 draw.

The Gunners, who are chasing an unprecedented Quadruple, will face Bayer Leverkusen before a possible quarterfinal with Bodo/Glimt or Sporting Lisbon.

They ended the group phase of the competition with a perfect record of eight wins out of eight.

And boss Arteta, whose side have seen their odds to win the trophy shorten to 11/4 after avoiding any European heavyweights in the draw, said: "We are very excited to play the next round.

"We have earned the right to be in a strong position with what we've done in the group stage and that's it.

"Now we need to start to analyse them and find ways to be better than them to try and go through the tie."

Manchester City will resume battle with Real Madrid in what has been billed as a Champions League 'final'.
